Grilled sourdough bread with smoked red deer

  • 100–200 g (1–2 packages) of Lapin Liha’s hot-smoked reindeer or venison roast
  • 8 slices of sourdough bread
  • 200 g cream cheese
  • 2 tsp strong, sweet mustard
  • 2 tsp grated horseradish
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped chives
  • 150 g aged cheese, e.g., Präst cheese, in slices
  • Vegetable chips and cocktail pickles for serving
  • Salt and pepper


Mix together the cream cheese, mustard, horseradish, and chives. Season with salt and pepper.

Spread a generous amount of the cream cheese mixture on all the bread slices. Add sliced reindeer or red deer roast and cheese to four of the slices, then place the remaining slices on top. Grill the sandwiches in a pan or sandwich grill until the cheese has melted and the bread is nicely browned.

Serve with vegetable chips and cocktail pickles.
